The National Centre has developed a number of Professional Development modules for teachers of mathematics. Modules covering Primary, Secondary and Post-16 are available now.

Each module focuses on a current theme of relevance to the sector, and takes the teacher through a number of guided activities online to develop thinking and encourage reflection about the theme.

Be a Pioneer in an Exciting CPD Pilot
There are currently 676 qualified mathematics ASTs in England, who have the potential to be a major force in improving mathematics education. The NCETM wants to help fully realise this potential by establishing a formal national AST network to share best practice, support individuals and give a national voice to the mathematics AST community. To initiate this network the NCETM is hosting national Influential Mathematics Teachers Conferences in three locations across England during October 2008. It can be lonely out there! Have you ever thought how inspiring it would be to join up with a group of fellow teachers and work together on improving an important aspect of teaching, and learning, that you are all interested in? Now is your chance. An exciting opportunity to take part in a new collaborative way of working is being offered by The National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) – the Professional Enquiry Project.
What Works in the Classroom - A Conference for Teachers of Mathematics, Mathematics Teacher Educators and LEA Mathematics Specialists
This conference is planned as a workshop-based experience and a discussion forum for all teachers, teacher advisers and trainers interested in the uses of the history of mathematics in the mathematics classroom.  It is based on work developed by a group of teachers who collaborated over the past few years on trailling, developing and using history of mathematics resources in primary and secondary settings, and will aim to equip delegates with some useful tools and resources ready to use in the classroom.
