What works in the classroom - collaborative teaching practice and the history of mathematics This conference is planned as a workshop-based experience and a discussion forum for all teachers, teacher advisers and trainers, interested in the uses of the history of mathematics in the mathematics classroom. The conference takes place on Friday 26th September 2008 at the London Mathematical Society.
TES Education 2008 This event is taking place in the National Hall at Olympia, London on 10th & 11th October 2008, and provides the opportunity for you to learn from the experts at more than 60 CPD seminars.

The Sixth Annual SW Maths Consultants' Professional Development Conference will be held on 26th September 2008 at the Exeter Golf & Country Club. The theme will be Assessment for Learning and the speaker will be Jeremy Hodgen from King's College, London who's work on assessment includes 'Mathematics Inside the Black Box'.  Regional Network Meetings
Come along to one of our regional sessions. A friendly, informal atmosphere to meet your regional coordinators, network with colleagues, explore our online resources and support and get involved in the SW community.
Meetings have been held this term in Bristol - with science and engineering ('STEM'), and at Cullompton & Ilminster.

The Millennium Mathematics Project at the University of Cambridge has been commissioned by ACME to conduct an audit of mathematics enrichment and enhancement (E&E) provision and engagement nationally.
They would be very grateful if you were able to contribute to this study by completing a short survey at http://www.mmp.maths.org/news/ACME.html
They would like to hear from both schools and colleges, and from organisations involved in providing mathematics E&E activities or resources at primary and secondary school level.

Tempus Magazine
The magazine is published twice a year (Spring & Autumn) by the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE). The magazine is aimed at secondary students & teachers.

Building a Picture of Professional Development
What does PD mean to you? Would you like to earn £50 by writing a 'vignette' describing how an activity has contributed to your sense of developing professionally?
South West Teachers Community
This is a forum for teachers across the SW to share stories about their teaching in a supportive and developmental atmosphere. The idea is to stimulate debate about the learning and teaching of mathematics. It is a "members only" community because we want people to opt in to it. However, applying to be a member is very simple: just click "Join" and be prepared to share your practice with others.
South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL)
The SWGfL provides a wealth of resources for teachers in the SW. A public-facing website section - the Learning Grid. This site highlights publicly available content developed by regional broadband consortia on the National Education Network.
A regional educational portal - the SWGfL Portal. Available to all staff and students in the region. Some LAs and schools host their own resource within this environment, but access is by log on only.
