Induction for Tutors new to Primary & Secondary Mathematics IT (part of the AMET Annual Conference)
The AMET conference is taking place 31st August 2008 in Birmingham, venue to be confirmed.

Mathematics in the Marches - West Midlands
The next meeting will be on the morning of Saturday 4th October 2008 in Telford, venue to be confirmed. There will be a choice of workshops suitable for primary and secondary teachers on the theme of Mathematical Creativity.

NEW Third Round of Funding for Local Networks
We are again delighted to offer grants of up to £1000 to support local networks of teachers of mathematics.  This could include you! The deadline for grant proposals is Monday 16th June 2008.
Major West Midlands Initiatives 
 Mathematics Development Programme for Teachers
The Universities of Brighton, Liverpool Hope and Wolverhampton are piloting continuing professional development (CPD) courses aimed at mathematics teachers who are not specialists in the subject.  The second year of the pilot starts in June/July 2008 and recruitment is now underway.
 Learning to Go: Handheld Learning
The 'Learning to Go' project, coordinated by Wolverhampton City Council, shows how successfully mobile learning devices can be used to give students access to 'anywhere, anytime' learning. The project involves teachers, learners and their famililes using mobile, handheld computers, equipped with Microsoft Windows Mobile software, to deliver multimedia content, internet and authoring tools.

Funding Sources
Do you have a great idea for a project in school that will enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics but are unable to find it through the school budget?

Do you aspire to research an area of mathematics education to further your own understanding and need financial support? There are many grants and trusts available to support school projects and individiuals who wish to further their education.
If you have received funding from an external source and used it to support the teaching and learning of mathematics in your organisation, or if you know of any other funding sources, we would be interested to hear from you, please contact us.
