Hello again to the Cumbria Special Schools Network whom I met at Mayfield School, Whitehaven, on Wednesday last.

I hope the update on the new materials for SEN that we looked at and which are now on the Portal will be useful to you all.
  • What Makes a Good Resource?
  • Mathematics Outside the Classroom
Thank you to those of you whose ideas I "borrowed" to add to many great activities from teachers in other SEN settings.

The self-evaluation tools which we looked at will help in the mathematics leadership roles in school to address the needs of colleagues with both subject knowledge and pedagogy.

Do take a look at the new micro-site which supports teaching assistants; "Other Adults in the Mathematics Classroom". This will offer advice and guidance along with case studies and CPD activities to help teaching assistants work more efficiently with teachers in mathematics lessons.

While it was a little disappointing that we were not able to access the SEN Talking Heads videos on the day, it may well make you more determined to look for yourselves. 18 short clips from the Special Schools Conference last September, given by practising teachers from SEN settings, are a valuable source of ideas and inspiration to you in your work.

Thank you again for your company. If I can help more, do please call.
I hope to read comments from you on this medium and we may meet up again in future. Do keep in touch.

Joe
