Effective teaching and learning

I've just been through the (newish) research from NRDC about effective teaching and learning in numeracy.  I thought this made a most interesting read.  In particular, I liked section 6 about teachers' practices, and on the importance of questioning learners.  Has anyone else been through this report?  If so, what are your views on the section about teachers' practices?  What lessons can we learn for teaching mathematics across f.e.?  (Or h.e. for that matter).

If you haven't seen the report, you can download it from www.nrdc.org.uk, or you can order a hard copy.

I have just downloaded this so I'll have  look at it.  I also downloaded a report on the daily application of numeracy for adults.  I'm interested in that to see how useful giving connect to skills learning is.   I think it is a great help but others do not always agree.

I'll post again when again I have done my homework!

Dave

I've registered too. Their resources and research look really interesting. I've ordered several items.

i habe just downloaded to the whole document to read, it seems interesting. Is there any recommended reading for active learning maths lessons? is there someone doing it and what are the pros and cons? How effective it is and be managed?
