The NCETM, set up in 2006, is managed by a consortium of Tribal Education and Mathematics in Education and Industry (MEI). It is funded by the Department for Education (DfE).
The Centre supports all schools and colleges, and all individuals and organisations engaged in maths-specific CPD. This support is principally channelled through the Maths Hubs programme, which the NCETM leads, a central element of which is the Teaching for Mastery programme.
In parallel to the face to face work contained in the numerous Maths Hubs programme projects, the NCETM continues, through its website, to provide support for all teachers of mathematics and all working within the school mathematics community. Registration with the Centre, via the website, is free of charge. This support includes:
- National Curriculum support tool
- Self-evaluation tools
- Qualifications and Curriculum updates
- Director’s Blog
- The Centre also promotes the provision of high quality, maths-specific CPD, through the NCETM CPD Standard. Schools and colleges know that CPD providers holding the Standard have passed a rigorous quality-assurance process. The CPD Providers’ Directory lists all individuals and organisations holding the Standard, and those with an individual team member who has successfully completed. The Professional Development Calendar lists chronologically, all CPD events and courses notified to us.
From Early Years through to Adult Education, all those involved in teaching mathematics are considered stakeholders of the NCETM.
Over 300 000 people have registered with the NCETM and benefit from its resources. Please register on the website (free of charge), so that you can fully access all NCETM resources and appear on the NCETM Registered Users page.
