Two further Maths Hub lead schools have been appointed, which, once the corresponding hubs are formed and operational, will bring the total of Maths Hubs in England to 34.

  • Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School in Rochester will be the lead school for a Maths Hub covering Kent.
  • Beauchamp College in Oadby, Leicestershire will be the lead school for a Maths Hub covering Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

The appointments were made after an application process jointly run by the Department for Education (DfE) and the National Centre for Excellence for the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM).

The first wave of 32 Maths Hubs was announced in July 2014, and began work at the start of the 2014 autumn term. The two new hubs will start work once local strategic partners have been assembled and a plan of work for the rest of this school year has been agreed.
