New materials designed to help secondary teachers assess the degree to which pupils have mastered concepts within the maths curriculum have just been published. Written by maths teaching experts and classroom teachers working with Maths Hubs, the materials consist of tasks and activities designed to expose two degrees of understanding: mastery and mastery with greater depth. They are split into six curriculum sections: number; algebra; ratio, proportion and rates of change; geometry and measures; probability; and statistics. The format matches that of the mastery assessment materials for primary teachers, published in 2015, which have now been downloaded more than 1.2 million times.
