Professional development options from Maths Hubs and AMSP for A level Maths, Further Maths and Core Maths teachers

We’ve produced a new poster to help teachers understand the range of professional development options, run by Maths Hubs and the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP), available to anyone teaching maths beyond GCSE.

From the start of this academic year, the two organisations are collaborating closely to ensure the professional development opportunities they offer are complementary, and suit a wide range of needs among teachers of this area (called ‘Level 3’) of maths.

Many of the options, in particular the Work Groups run by Maths Hubs, involve teachers joining colleagues from other schools and colleges in an ongoing series of workshops, across the school year. There are also numerous opportunities to attend one-day courses or conferences run by the AMSP.

Among the professional development opportunities from Maths Hubs are:

  • Core Maths: a Work Group for those experienced in, or new to, teaching the subject
  • The new A level: a Work Group to help teachers refine their teaching to match the new qualification, and pass on what they learn to colleagues in their department
  • Technology: a Work Group to explore ways of embedding more technology in the teaching and learning of A level Maths and Further Maths.

Details of all Maths Hubs projects in this area can be found on the Maths Hubs Programme website.
