We are pleased to announce that 43 schools across England will be hosting open-door events, where maths lessons will be taught in January by teachers from Shanghai, as part of the Maths Hubs China-England teacher exchange, funded by the DfE.
This is your opportunity to watch a Chinese teacher in action, in an English maths classroom, and, afterwards take part in a discussion with the teacher and their English counterparts about the teaching for mastery pedagogy you see.
The Shanghai teachers will be here on the second leg of the 2018/19 exchange. In the first leg, in November, 70 primary and 16 secondary teachers from England spent a fortnight in Shanghai in the schools of the teachers coming here in January.
The ‘Shanghai Showcase’ lessons are taking place in 35 primary schools, and eight secondary schools. In each case, the organising Maths Hub has a system to allocate places on a first come, first served basis.
