Professor Marcus du Sautoy holds the Charles Simonyi Chair for the Public Understanding of Science. He has recently published an article in The Guardian, The secret life of numbers, which has provided the stimulus for this article.  

Up2d8 maths
The fortnightly Up2d8 maths resources explore a range of mathematical themes in a topical context. Ths Up2d8 asks students to consider their own daily diet in comparison to that of a top cyclist. Students are asked to analyse the calorific intake from particular food consumed by an elite cyclist, and to create a diet sheet of their own.
