Departmental Workshops - Structured professional development activities   getting the best from teacher training students

Getting the best from teacher-training students

Teacher training students include PGCE, GTP, iTeach, SCITT and B.Ed. For the purposes of this workshop these are grouped under the heading of ‘trainees’.  This workshop will help you develop how you use such trainees in your school.  Starting with some reflection of your current practice this workshop has three activities.  Firstly a discussion about the difficulties that trainees sometimes face in order that you can share some best practice about how to help them, with the aim of creating a departmental ‘handbook’ for working with trainees.  Secondly for you to discuss alternative uses of trainees inside the classroom and finally some alternatives for uses outside the classroom.
