Mathematics Knowledge Networks 2009-2010: Reflections on our Learning

In 2009, for the first time, the National Centre funded 56 Mathematics Knowledge Networks (MKNs). Funding was provided to support teachers in meeting and talking together, to develop their knowledge and their pedagogy and to explore and improve mathematics learning in their schools and colleges.

The networks operated in a variety of ways, in different age phases and with wide ranging mathematics interests. In May 2010, the National Centre brought representatives from these MKNs together to celebrate and reflect on the achievements of their networks.

Each of the MKNs followed a specific theme. More information on these can be found here.

MKNs developed and facilitated exciting and innovative opportunities for pupil learning. However, perhaps the most exciting outcome is the professional learning that teachers tell us they achieved for themselves. At the 'Reflections on our Learning' event a series of short magazine style articles were written, describing the impact of 9 MKNs. In the list on the right we have grouped together the articles, according to the theme for the network.
