Module 5: Leading improvement

In your role as Maths Subject Leader you will be expected to develop a whole school vision for mathematics, take a lead in the subject, move the subject forward and handle the essential change that involves. These are all complex issue and this module will help you to understand you role along with the essential features of leadership and change. Whenever you have the responsibility of leadership there also comes accountability, and this module will help you to know who you are accountable to and what sort of information you need to inform them. It will continue to help you build your Maths Subject Leader File.

In this module you will:

  • examine the role of the Mathematics subject leader
  • explore the differences between leadership and management
  • identify models for strategic planning
  • explore how monitoring and evaluation are used in accountability processes.
