Since the previous issue (16) of the FE magazine was published, there has been a great deal of interest in the article Focus on functional mathematics, and we have been asked to suggest other parts of the portal which would be of especial interest to functional mathematics teachers:

Maths in Work
  • Glimpses of the real world of work via short (less than three minutes) video clips
Workplace Mathematics
  • This video collection contains six examples of how mathematics is being used in various occupations. Each piece of footage lasts around ten minutes. The jobs covered are: pharmacist, builder, bar tender, fashion designer, architect and hairdresser. They are filmed in Manchester and the surrounding area
  • Use the Google search function to find and join in discussions on functional mathematics
