NCETM Standing on the Shoulders of Giants Conference 2011 - Professor Celia Hoyles
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: continuing the professional development of teachers of mathematics

This successful NCETM conference was held at Mary Ward House, London, on 23 March 2011. It was designed as a CPD event for all those interested in how teachers of mathematics can learn from other teachers, how to use their mathematics subject knowledge better, develop networks of teachers to build on existing good practice, and use a variety of professional development including peer-to-peer support, resources and commercial courses to embed CPD into the life of their school or college.

A full programme comprised presentations from guest speakers Dr Jenny Bradshaw and Sir Mark Walport, interleaved with workshop sessions, and concluded with a panel discusssion chaired by Professor Celia Hoyles, Director, NCETM; the conference also saw the launch of the National Centre report, Building success in mathematics teaching.
