Improving learning in maths using virtual manipulatives

A staff development workshop on using digital technologies for a group of teachers

This resource looks at use of the manipulatives in general and how virtual manipulatives can be used for modelling in the everyday teaching and more importantly use in the exploration of the mathematical concepts.

This workshop aimed to enable delegates to:

  • to enable delegates to evaluate some of the available virtual manipulatives
  • an introduction to resources on the web which can be used to tackle hard to teach areas of mathematics. Main focus is on virtual manipulatives and their place in the everyday teaching.
