Welcome to Issue 28 of the NCETM FE Magazine, the first such issue since late 2011, and one that coincides with the increased prominence of maths teaching within the sector. More about that in the News section.

This new-look FE Magazine is a collaboration between the NCETM and the National Association for Numeracy and Mathematics in Colleges (NANAMIC). To get a better feel for NANAMIC, why not investigate some of the professional development opportunities they offer? Half-day courses currently available include ‘Unsure of Algebra’ and ‘Refresh your GCSE Mathematics (Statistics) teaching’.

Here’s a flavour of what’s in this month’s magazine...

An update on the programme now in place to help the sector meet the new challenge of teaching GCSE maths to all those students who haven’t yet got a Grade C.

My Favourite
A source of first-hand recommendations from teachers about what has worked in the classroom for them.

It's a Post-16 Thing
A look at the NCETM’s new Self-evaluation Tool for teachers of GCSE re-sit students.

Advanced Mathematics
Looking ahead to another busy year for the Further Mathematics Support Programme (FMSP).

Functional Maths
How Sometimes, Always, Never activities can help develop logical thinking.

Adults Learning Maths
The power of approximation.

And finally…
...highlighting a resource from the National STEM Centre eLibrary.

It's great to see this back! Long may it reign as a source of inspiration.
