Module 2: Exploring maths for your vocational areas

We run 11 different versions of this half-day workshop, each one focussed on one of the vocational areas listed:

  • Construction & Built Environment
  • Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy
  • Health & Social Care
  • Hospitality and Catering
  • Motor Vehicle
  • Sport
  • Leisure and Tourism
  • Performing Arts (Theatre)
  • Performing Arts (Dance)
  • Visual Arts (Design)
  • Visual Arts (Fashion)

Eleven different versions of this half-day workshop are available , each one focussed on one of the vocational areas listed above: Although each Module 2 workshop focuses on one subject area, we can arrange to combine two or occasionally three workshops. Teachers applying for Module 2 must already have completed Module 1.

A generic, less subject specific, module 2 is available for those not involved in the subject sectors listed above. This option requires further consultation with the NCETM, please email the NCETM, and we will contact you to discuss your requirements in more detail.

In Module 2 teachers will

  • informally self-assess (no tests!) and develop their personal maths skills and confidence
  • self-assess and develop their maths teaching skills and confidence
  • explore strategies for engaging vocational learners with maths and for sustaining that engagement
  • explore mathematical learning resources specific to their vocational area
