A Year 1 lesson on difference as a form of subtraction

This lesson, on difference as a form of subtraction, is taught by Clare Christie who is the maths subject leader for the Ashley Down Schools Federation in Bristol, which comprises Ashley Down Primary School and Brunel Field Primary School.

We strongly recommend that, while watching the videos, you refer to this set of slides giving background pedagogical explanations relating to the lesson, these resources used by the teacher, these practice exercises given to pupils, and this explanation ‘morning count’ activity. The teacher resources are also available on this whiteboard file.
