A Year 6 lesson on comparing fractions and post-lesson discussion

The first of these two videos shows a boiled down version of a lesson given to a Year 6 class at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Guildford. The teacher, Miss Jiao, from Shanghai, spent a fortnight at the school as part of the 2016-2017 England-China exchange under the Maths Hubs programme. The main teaching in the lesson is devoted to comparing the value of fractions with the same denominators.

We strongly recommend that, while watching the videos, you refer to this set of slides used by the teacher during the lesson.
