As a career changing SCITT trainee teacher I found this a useful explanation of what Core Maths is and look forward to assisting with the general objective of equipping future generations with core maths skills. As a Mechical Engineer with socio-economic/ political interests and concerns, I feel that it is extremely important that future generations can assess data and are confident with maths. How maths skills help understand and deal with real life problems, (Authentic Contextualisation), seems a rational way of showing the relevance of maths to young people. I'm very interested to find out more about the different Core Maths exams as I start on my teaching journey.
