Mastery magnified

To help you and your school implement teaching for mastery, we have plenty of useful materials.

Our case studies, lesson videos and school leader interviews let you hear from schools and teachers whose pupils are already benefiting from mastery.

Case studies

These highlight individual teachers, whole schools, or specific aspects of teaching for mastery. From large secondary academies to small rural primary schools, you will find a case study about a school like yours. Learn about the impact of adopting teaching for mastery from teachers and schools who are already benefiting.

Lesson videos

Filmed during the early stages of their teaching for mastery journey, the teachers featured are starting to embed some of mastery’s key features. Some are from schools involved in the England China Exchange.

You will see whole-class teaching, a step-by-step approach, and teachers having high expectations of pupils using mathematical language. You will also see the teachers demonstrate the belief that all children can achieve in maths.

To get the most out of the videos, you should view them alongside the accompanying PowerPoint presentations. This will let you fully understand key pedagogical points and reference the resources used.

You might also like to watch our videos of teacher, pupil and subject leader interviews.

School leader interviews

If you are a school leader, or a teacher who wants your headteacher to engage in teaching for mastery, these videos are for you.

We have interviewed several headteachers who have embraced mastery in their schools. In these videos, they share details of how the time, energy and resources they have invested in mastery are already paying off for their pupils.
