Maths in Work: Converting Hours & Minutes

Created on 19 May 2008 by ncetm_administrator

Title Converting Hours & Minutes
Organisation MetroMail

Overview
MetroMail, part of the Cyber Group, has many customers in the Direct Mail Industry. In this clip, we see someone collating all the hours worked by the staff on a daily basis. This information is passed to the wages department, in the form of a spreadsheet. When entering data the hours and minutes worked have to converted to whole hours and decimal fractions of hours. The staff are given these and other details in a table to help them interpret their payslips. The mathematics involves ICT spreadsheets, decimals, percentages and calculation.
