Ratio, proportion and rates of change
Question 1 of 18

# 1. How confident are you that you can extend ratio notation to include 1: r where r is a rational number?

## Problem

Sort these ratios into sets of equivalent ratios

16 : 2
1 : 23
1 : 18
3 : 2
1 : 1 12
2 : 3
8 : 1
5 : 10
3 : 6
4 : 6
6 : 4
1 : 2

Prompt 1.

Equivalent ratios behave in a similar way to equivalent fractions. For example the fraction 510 is equivalent to the fraction 12. In a similar way the ration 5:10 is equivalent to the ratio 1:2

Prompt 2.

One of the sets is 4:6, 2:3 and 1:1 12. Can you find the others?

The sets are:

4 : 6
2 : 3
1 : 1 12
16 : 2
8 : 1
1 : 18
5 : 10
3 : 6
1 : 2
6 : 4
3 : 1
1 : 23
