What we do

What are our activities

1. We provide you with a great website

Our website is full of useful information that you can access quickly and easily. Find out more about teaching for mastery, download professional development and assessment materials, watch videos, find your local Maths Hub and much more.

2. We offer face-to-face and online professional development

Every year, we run hundreds of Work Groups across the whole country. These are more than just ‘going on a course’. They give teachers and teaching assistants the chance to explore lots of aspects of maths teaching. With peer-to-peer support and action research alongside expert input, Work Groups are a hands-on learning experience suitable for anyone who teaches maths.

3. We lead the Maths Hubs projects

The Maths Hubs projects are national initiatives focusing on particular areas of maths teaching, like the transition between primary and secondary school, or Core Maths at post-16. Work Groups form part of these projects at a local level, and contribute to the project as a whole. Every year, we make sure that the projects taking place reflect the professional development needs of those who teach maths.

4. We keep you up to date

The news we publish on our website tells you what is happening in the world of maths education. We are also on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, so follow and like us to stay in touch.

5. We publish high quality materials

We know that time you spend collaborating with your colleagues on subject-specific professional development is really important, so we have created some great materials to help you. All our resources are designed to support primary and secondary teachers to develop effective pedagogy and to enhance their own subject knowledge.

Who do we support?

We support you and people like you.

We love to work with teachers, TAs, maths leads, heads of department, assistant heads, headteachers, EY practitioners, non-specialist maths teachers and more! If you are involved in teaching maths to children and young people, we have something to enable you to become even better.

If you want to know more about finding the right support for you, get in touch and we will be happy to help.
