Interests : I joined the NCETM in June 2018 and am Regional Lead for The North of England and Yorkshire Ridings. This involves acting as the principal NCETM link to the Maths Hub leadership and management teams in the region. I also work with key regional stakeholders and representatives of national government programmes, to develop and support the implementation of a coherent strategy for mathematics school improvement in the region.

I have worked in maths education for over 20 years, most recently as a Local Authority Advisor. I also work as an independent consultant, supporting schools to develop their practice. I work with awarding bodies, writing and delivering CPD and have experience of producing and teaching enhancement programmes for trainee teachers.

I believe passionately that learners deserve high quality maths education and that sustained support and CPD is key to enabling our teachers to deliver this. It is important that we invest both locally and nationally in raising the profile of mathematics. Only with high quality teaching, sustained teacher development and an increased profile can we really make maths a ‘can do’ subject.
