Interests : I see mathematics as an extension of the natural thinking that everyone can do - I like to explore how we use valid reasoning and visual imagery in all our thinking, at the same time conjecturing and testing implications for enabling the learning of mathematics.

Having enjoyed various roles in mathematics education I am now an Associate of the NCETM, an education consultant with Outstanding Outcomes Ltd, and an NCETM Professional Development Accredited Lead.

This is my 'potted history'. I was a mathematics head of department in three secondary schools, and a primary and secondary advisory teacher in Sussex (ESG) and in Lincolnshire - where I supported Lincolnshire's mathematics teachers in their introduction to the National Curriculum - before being appointed to the Consortium for Assessment and Testing at Kings College, London, to develop Key stage 3 mathematics tests.

Then I joined the School Mathematics Project at Southampton University as a founder writer and editor of the new initiative that eventually evolved into SMP Interact. Following that, I directed Folens Mathematics Programme, helped to establish TeachandLearn.net for the Open University, and produced three discs of computer-based interactive mathematics activities for Key stage 3, which were published by Hodder in 2005.

Since then I have designed a large amount of material to support various projects, and written and edited many resources for teachers and students, including as editor of the NCETM Secondary Magazine, and a variety of other material on the NCETM portal. I also contribute to the PD of teachers by providing face-to-face in-school support.
