New Maths Hubs start work in North West and hub boundaries across England confirmed

  • Published: 04/06/2019

Two new Maths Hubs are now serving schools in the North West of England, bringing the total number of hubs in the Maths Hubs Network to 37. Abacus NW Maths Hub works with schools in Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, and parts of Lancashire. Cheshire and Wirral Maths Hub serves schools in Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Halton, and the Wirral.

The areas served by the 37 hubs across the whole Maths Hubs Network are now clearer. Schools and colleges wanting support from their local Maths Hub can find out which local council areas are served by each hub. Most schools and colleges are unaffected by this, but if you want to check which is your local hub, visit our Find your hub page.

As part of the clarification of hub boundaries, and reflecting the arrival of two new hubs, a small number of hubs have changed their name. This does not necessarily mean that the area they serve has changed. The hubs which have changed their names are:

  • North West Two to Turing NW
  • North Mids and Peaks to North Mids
  • Norfolk and Suffolk to Angles
  • Salop and Herefordshire to SHaW.

All schools and colleges in England, regardless of geographical location, are entitled to participate in and benefit from the work of a Maths Hub. Multi-academy trusts which span boundaries can contact any hub where one of their schools is located.

To find and connect with your local hub, and to find out more about the work of the Maths Hub Programme and the opportunities on offer, visit the Maths Hubs section of our website.
