The NCETM has officially joined Instagram
@NCETM.Official is a new space designed to offer clear, visual, and practical ideas that can be utilised immediately to support high-quality maths teaching across all phases.
Offering everything from behind-the-scenes footage of Work Groups across the Maths Hubs Network to quick-fire teaching insights, @NCETM.Official serves as a source of professional inspiration in a digestible format for teachers and their wider schools and departments.
Can you solve the brain teaser?
To mark the launch, we are inviting you to engage in an interactive professional challenge. We recognise that sometimes the simplest-looking maths problems are the best at uncovering pupil misconceptions – but can you solve the problem yourself first?
We have selected a task taken directly from our Checkpoints materials and invite you to put your own skills to the test. We are looking for the two correct answers, but we are also interested to see who can offer the most robust explanation and reasoning.
We encourage you to share your solution and the pedagogical steps you took to get there in the comments of the post. Keep a close eye on our feed, as we will soon be highlighting the best explanations when we reveal the full answer and the thinking behind the task later this week.
