Regional Special Schools Teaching for Mastery Community

Collaborative support for teachers developing maths teaching and learning for learners with more complex needs

Who can take part?

This regional community is open to teachers in special schools and mainstream inclusion bases who are currently engaged in a Work Group or programme with their local Maths Hub.

Participation is optional and free. Teachers are encouraged to attend the two twilight webinars, and to contribute to the dedicated online community.

What is involved?

This community is for teachers of learners with more complex needs, including special schools and mainstream inclusion bases, who are already participating in any Maths Hubs programme.

Teachers come together at two online twilight events to share approaches and learn from colleagues working in similar settings. Participants also gain access to an online collaboration space to share regional and national expertise.

This regional community supports teachers in adapting mastery principles for learners with more complex needs, and complements their school’s participation in a local Work Group.

What will you learn?

  • You will connect with teachers working in special settings across the region
  • You and colleagues will share strategies for adapting maths teaching to meet a wide range of needs
  • You will gain insights from experienced practitioners and specialists
  • You will explore ways to develop maths teaching that supports deep understanding for all pupils
  • You will build confidence and expertise in leading change within the context of a special setting

What is the cost?

The community is fully funded by the Maths Hubs Programme, so is free to participating schools.
