British Congress of Mathematics Education 10

Next autumn sees the return of the British Congress of Mathematics Education (BCME), taking place on 23 and 24 October 2026 at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham. This will be the first BCME since 2018, after a pause during the pandemic, and it promises to be a major event for anyone interested in mathematics education research and its impact on classrooms.

With the theme 'Research and Practice in Partnership', BCME 10 will highlight collaboration between teachers and researchers, showcasing how research can respond to the needs of schools and teachers and how it can be brought to life in classrooms.

Maths Hubs are at the heart of this work. Through the NCETM’s Research, Evaluation and Impact strand, hubs are consistently involved in identifying needs, trialling approaches, and sharing evidence of effective practice. BCME 10 will be a chance for Maths Hubs to share and celebrate this work, both through presentations and active participation in discussions with colleagues from across the sector. The call for session proposals opens this November.

If you’re involved or simply interested in maths education research, make sure you save the date for this special event.
