Inside the Secondary Non-specialist Teachers SKTM Programme
A fully-funded CPD opportunity designed to support non-specialist teachers of maths
03/06/2025

With many schools relying on non-specialists to teach maths, Specialist Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics (SKTM) Programme for Secondary Non-specialist Teachers is designed to build both confidence and competence. It supports teachers who are teaching maths but are trained in a different subject. Through collaborative sessions, practical classroom strategies, and a strong focus on subject knowledge and pedagogy, teachers thrive and students reap the benefits.
In this short video, you’ll hear directly from teachers about how the SKTM programme boosted their confidence and transformed their approach to teaching maths. You’ll also hear from a Cohort Lead, who explains the unique benefits of the Work Group model and how the support it offers throughout the year makes all the difference.
