Geometry
Theme 11 comprises four core concepts: transformations and relative position; reasoning with the properties of a circle; trigonometry; 3D shapes.
The links immediately below take you to pages dedicated to each core concept.
-
11.1 Transformations and relative position
Core concept 11.1 introduces bearings and vectors as means to describe relative position, as well as deepening students’ understanding of transformations
-
11.2 Reasoning with the properties of a circle
Core concept 11.2 uses the properties of a circle to explore proportionality, circle theorems and the equation of a circle
-
11.3 Trigonometry
Core concept 11.3 extends students’ understanding of trigonometry to include problems in 3-dimensional space and in non-right-angled triangles
-
11.4 3D shapes
Core concept 11.4 uses different 2D representations of 3D shapes to support students to quantify both surface area and volume
